Weekly Devotional #009
Seek His Face, Not His Hand
I’ve been a bit discouraged lately, I can’t even lie. I’ve been seeing more and more sermons about blessings and breakthroughs and seasons, and it all screams, “Me, me, me...”
Is God not enough anymore? Is time spent in His Word, learning about the beauty of His character no longer sufficient? Have we reduced God to a blessing giver, and our relationship with Him a mere waiting game to the next transaction?
“But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness [His way of doing and being right—the attitude and character of God], and all these things will be given to you also.”
Matthew 6:33 AMP
My heart breaks, because I feel like we’re missing out on fellowship with the Lord for the sake of seeking His hand rather than His face. We’re literally robbing ourselves of the true riches in the Godhead...
Lord, I pray for everyone reading this. Rid us of the “blessing centered” faith, and fill us with a desire to seek and serve you; let that be our portion; let that be our blessing. Help us see that compared to knowing You, everything else is a pure garbage. In Jesus’ name, Amen...
God bless you,

This is exactly what is needed!! Thank you for this devotional, it was right on time. This spoke to me so much because I haven’t been spending the needed time with God, and even though he’s been blessing me anyway, I have slacked on building a RELATIONSHIP with him! Thank you for the reminder.
