Flee From Sin At All Costs

Picture this – A familiar face charms their way back into your life. You know they’re wrong/bad for you, but your heart deceives you into believing this time will be different. It’s not different - you let your guard down, and this familiar face betrays you all over again. For EVERY Believer, this familiar face is sin. Sin overpromises and underdelivers 100% of the time.

“No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted[b] beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.”  – 1 Corinthians 10:13

Satan and his kingdom are working 24/7 365 to destroy you; don’t you dare deceive yourself and think otherwise; a war is being waged for the souls of men and sin is a weapon of mass destruction. Satan knows what sins entice us the most; he’s been studying us since birth and creating a sin profile of all the situations that trip us up. But praise be to God – the Lord created our life profile before the beginning of time! Amen?

For every sin Satan entices us with, the Lord has graciously provided an exit plan. Here’s the sobering truth – WHEN WE SIN, WE’VE ACTIVELY CHOSEN TO IGNORE GOD’S GRACIOUS ESCAPE ROUTE; it doesn’t matter what excuse we give, our sinning is a deliberate act of rebellion against the Lord. This may not be the warm and fuzzy devotional you were hoping for, but sometimes we need confrontational truth that causes us to sit up straight and examine our lives.

Are you fornicating with no remorse? Are you gossiping without end? Are you indulging in unhealthy consumption of food or drugs or alcohol? Are you filled with pride that’s destroying your relationships? Are you living a life of deliberate rebellion toward God? If so, repent – turn away from those sins and submit yourself to God.

This sin in our lives – no matter how good it may feel – will lead us down a path of bondage and pain; some of us are living in that pain right now. Submitting to God will not be easy, but convenience has never been the way of Jesus. I pray we find accountability partners to confess our sin to and support us in our journey toward obedience. Lord, continue to help us as we attempt to pursue you in our rotten flesh. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
